This camp was like spending time in a country with sincere, joyful and loving citizens. 28 incredible children along with their parents and siblings returned home from the Family Retreat, which took place July 16th-21st, highly impressed. Just as in previous years, camp took place at the Fimiam Retreat Center in the village of Zaozerne. The retreat was once again supported by the American organization "Joni and Friends”. Four representatives of this organization along with their partners from Poland, and a church team from Cleveland, Ohio, joined the camp. In the morning parents and children were primarily involved with Bible lessons. During Bible lessons they talked about God's love, mercy, and grace. They learned that despite health problems, you are precious in God's eyes and it's important to rely on Him during tough times and to share His love with others. Afternoons were full of different activities both for children and their parents, such as: yachting at Switiaz lake, crafts, interesting games, pony rides, a spa saloon, swimming at the lake, and a Hawaiian dinner. They also celebrated the 40-th anniversary of Joni & Friends Mission together. Many parents noticed that the volunteers did not treat their children with pity but instead with the same respect and sincerity as children without disabilities. Also, campers were constantly making things with their hands and learning something new. As a result, children started to smile more often and families became more open to fellowshipping with the people around them. Lady's club was organized one day for the moms of these incredible children. They discussed inner and outer beauty, had a workshop on looking after their facial skincare, and learned the secrets of make up both for everyday and special occasions. Additionally our guests from Poland led a short training about helping children with special needs adapt to a more independent life. The Polish team shared their own experiences in this area. It is important to note that family retreat changed the attitudes of volunteers towards these incredible children. "There's more love than sympathy in my heart to children with disabilities now, but it used to be vice versa"- one of the volunteers said. All families had a great time, rested and renewed their bodies, souls and spirits during the retreat. On one hand, the last day of camp was full of happiness because of the presents and fellowship. On the other hand, it was full of sadness, as everyone would have to wait an entire year until the next retreat. The good news is that families who were in the camp have a great opportunity to meet at Creativity Studio (for children) and Joy Studio (for young adults) that is held at Fimiam Church. #Сімейний_Ретрит_One_Way_2019 https://www.facebook.com/pg/agapeukraina/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2235833936464096&__tn__=-UCH-R
